Developer Experience & Avalia DX Hub @ Proud Tech 2022

Avalia Systems talks about Developer Experience, at the Proud Tech 2022.

Olivier Liechti, co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Avalia Systems and Ph.D. in Computer Science, was one of the speakers at Proud Tech, an event created by Softplan to share knowledge among software developers.

Olivier presented: Proud To Have An Impact. Five words that summarize the outcome of a well-crafted Developer Experience.

Developers who can see the impact of their work are more likely to feel satisfied and fulfilled in their careers. The ability to see the positive effect of their code on the business, users, and their colleagues can provide a sense of accomplishment and pride. It's a reminder that their skills and expertise are valuable, and that they are making a difference in the world through the code they write. This sense of purpose and meaning is essential for many developers to feel motivated and passionate about their craft.

During his presentation, Olivier went through the topics:

  • The concept of “Developer Experience” - DX - that is getting increased attention in tech organizations.

  • Why it matters and how it relates to other approaches such as Innersourcing.

  • Constituents of DX, and what to do to create a positive outcome.

  • Introduction to Backstage, an open-source DX platform created by Spotify.

Proud Tech, a community created in 2019 by a group of Softplan developers, hosted an event featuring several big names in the tech industry, including Edson Yanaga from Google, Daniel Bristot from RedHat, and Lauro Gripa from Polkadot. The free event also featured a presentation from Fábio Aguiar, author of the book Product Backlog Building. The event brought together over 13 speakers, including Softplan employees from various departments.

The goal of Proud Tech is to share knowledge and discuss real-life problems and solutions for software developers. The event featured over 5 hours of broadcast content, divided into three areas: technology, product, and career. The event also included a general meeting with specialists from both national and international markets.

Subjects covered at the event included Web3, microservices, creating new products, career development in the tech industry, and diversity and inclusion. The event provided an opportunity for collaborators and special guests from the tech world to exchange experiences and ideas.
